Bravehearts Outdone by Titan Bats, 7-2

The Torrington Titans (10-13) beat the Worcester Bravehearts (9-16) 7-2 on Saturday at Fuessenich Park behind Dean Lockery (CCSU), who had two extra base hits.

He tripled in the third inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Frank Valentino (Suffolk County CC) got the win, running his season record to 2-2. He allowed two runs over six innings. Valentino struck out six, walked none and gave up seven hits.

Mike Bruemmel ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out four.

The Torrington Titans' Jeremy Pena (Maine), Cody Doyle (Sacred Heart), Mac Crispino (Fairfield), Lockery and Nick Lamberti (UConn) combined for all 11 Titans hits.

On July 4th, the Torrington Titans ended a six-game losing streak with a bang by beating the Worcester Bravehearts, 7-2. Dean Lockery was 2-5 and scored three times in the win.

The Bravehearts took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third. Charlie Ameer led off the inning with a deep home run to left. Derek Gibree would later score on an Alex Sanchez groundout.

The Titans took their first lead in a week in the bottom of the same inning. Jeremy Pena singled and stole second, reached third on a wild pitch and scored when TJ Riccio's throw sailed into left field. Lockery tripled to the right field wall to score Nick Lamberti. Cody Doyle followed up with an RBI single to score Lockery.

The Titans made it 5-2 with two in the bottom of the 4th. This time, Doyle's RBI single scored Lamberti and Lockery. Pena singled in Lockery with two out in the fifth to chase Bruemmel and make it 6-2. Lockery would score the game's final run on a wild pitch with Dan Schock batting in the seventh against Nick Freijomil.

Kyle Dominy and John Russell combined for three scoreless innings at the end of the game for Torrington, who travel to Seacoast tomorrow and next play at home on Tuesday against the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs at 7 PM.
