
Blues Assign McRae and Nikitin

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has assigned forward Philip McRae and defenseman Nikita Nikitin (NICK-it-in) to the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.
McRae, 20, has dressed in 37 games for Peoria this season recording 22 points including 11 goals and 11 assists. While with the Blues, the 6'2, 200-pound forward dressed in seven games notching two points including his first career NHL goal in the Blues' 4-1 loss to the Flames last night in Calgary. A St. Louis native, McRae was originally drafted by the Blues in the second round, 33rd overall, of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Nikitin, 24, has played in 20 games for the Rivermen this year totaling 14 points including three goals and 11 assists. The 6'3, 217-pound defenseman has also made 15 appearances and served four penalty minutes for the Blues including his NHL debut on November 6th in Boston. The Omsk, Russia native was originally drafted by the Blues in the fifth round, 136th overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
After Friday's game at 7 p.m. in Milwaukee, the Rivermen return to Carver Arena on Saturday to honor Blues All-Star David Backes. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a David Backes commemorative canvas courtesy of Embassy Suites.
