
Panthers Reassign Defenseman Joe Callahan to Rochester

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans Vice President of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan announced today that the Florida Panthers have reassigned veteran defenseman Joe Callahan to the Amerks. Callahan rejoins Rochester in preparation for its 7:35 p.m. tilt with the Manitoba Moose on Friday, January 28th at The Blue Cross Arena.
Callahan, 28, has appeared in four games with Florida this season, averaging 14:25 minutes per game. For his career in the National Hockey League, he has played in 23 games with Florida (2010-11), San Jose (2009-10) and NY Islanders (2008-09), registering three assists and six penalty minutes.
The Brockton, Massachusetts, native has played in 41 games with Rochester this season, scoring three goals with eight assists for 11 points and 12 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 221-pound blueliner was drafted by Phoenix in the third round (70th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Rochester remains home on Friday, January 28th as the Manitoba Moose make their first visit this season to The Blue Cross Arena. The 7:35 p.m. matchup will be broadcast live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk. The game will also be televised live on Time Warner Cable SportsNet Channel 26.
The first 3,000 fans will take home a Jason Pominville bobblehead. Prior to the game, the Amerks will induct former defenseman and assistant coach Doug Houda and longtime broadcaster Don Stevens into the franchise's Hall of Fame as the Class of 2011. The newest inductees will sign autographs starting at 5:45 p.m. in the upper atrium as part of the next installment of the Amerks Legends Series, courtesy of the Seneca Gaming Corporation.
