Albany Devils Get Four Players from New Jersey

ALBANY, N.Y. - Nick Palmieri, Mattias Tedenby, Vladimir Zharkov have been assigned by the New Jersey Devils to Albany, while Mark Fraser has been assigned to Albany for conditioning. The announcement was made by Albany General Manager Chris Lamoriello.

Palmieri, 21, returns to Albany after being recalled by New Jersey on Dec. 30. In 10 NHL games this season, the Utica, N.Y. native produced three goals and an assist. He netted his first career NHL goal on Jan. 9 against Tampa Bay. Palmieri has appeared in 24 games for Albany this season and was riding a four-game point streak before his recall by New Jersey. He has six goals and five assists. Palmieri was selected 79th overall by the Devils in 2007.

Tedenby, 20, began the year in Albany, but was recalled by New Jersey on Nov. 8. While playing in the NHL, Tedenby led all Devils' rookies with five goals, six assists and 11 points. He netted his first career NHL goal on Nov. 22 against Washington. At the AHL level this season, he has three goals, two assists and a plus-3 rating in 10 games. Tedenby, who hails from Vetlanda, Sweden, was picked 24th overall by New Jersey in 2008.

Zharkov, 23, was recalled by New Jersey from Albany on Dec. 28 and netted his first career NHL goal on Jan. 17 at the New York Islanders. Like Palmieri, Zharkov was making his second stint in the NHL after seeing time during 2009-10. This season, the Elektrostal, Russia native played 11 games for New Jersey and posted a goal and an assist. At the AHL level, Zharkov has seen action in 29 contests, posting seven goals and 11 assists. He was selected 77th overall by the Devils in 2006.

Fraser, 24, is participating in his second conditioning stint in Albany this season. Previously, he has assigned to the AHL Devils on Dec. 20 and was recalled by New Jersey on Jan. 3 after three games and one assist. The Ottawa, Ontario native began the season in the NHL and played four games. He was placed on the long-term injury reserve on Oct. 28, missing 32 games between Oct. 15 and Dec. 29. He made his return on Jan. 4 and played in 11 games. Fraser was picked 84th overall by New Jersey in 2005.

The Devils welcome the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and the Rochester Americans to the Times Union Center this weekend. The Penguins arrive on Friday, Jan. 28, while the Amerks come on Saturday, Jan. 29. Both outings are at 7 p.m.
