
Bluefish Rally for 8-7 Win in Ten Innings

Bridgewater, NJ - The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Somerset Patriots 8-7 before 7,537 fans on Friday evening.
Bridgeport scored to break a 7-7 tie in the top of the tenth inning on an RBI single by center fielder Adam Greenberg to drive in catcher Luis Rodriguez for the 8-7 win.
Somerset had the bases loaded with the go ahead run at second but failed to score any runs in the bottom of the tenth inning.
The Patriots broke a 6-6 tied in the bottom of the eighth inning after second baseman Tim Raines Jr. walked and came around to score on an RBI single by left fielder Joe Burke for a 7-6 lead.
The Bluefish scored to tie the game 7-7 in the top of the ninth inning. Right fielder Tike Redman walked and scored on an RBI single by first baseman Josh Phelps.
Bridgeport took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning after Greenberg singled, stole second, and scored on an RBI single by Phelps.
Somerset answered with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Center fielder Wayne Lydon singled and stole second, Burke singled, and third baseman Jeff Nettles hit into a double play that scored Lydon. Designated hitter Elliott Ayala followed with a walk and right fielder Michael Hernandez doubled to bring him around to score for the 2-1 lead.
The Patriots added three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning after shortstop Iggy Suarez singled, Raines Jr. walked, and Lydon singled to bring home Suarez. Burke followed with a single to score Raines Jr. and Lydon for the 5-1 advantage.
The Bluefish scored in the top of the sixth inning to even the score. Designated hitter Steve Moss singled, first baseman Josh Phelps reached on a fielder's choice, and left fielder Danny Putnam singled to plate Moss. Third baseman Luis Lopez (4) then blasted a three run homerun to make the score 5-5.
Somerset answered with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning after Raines Jr. (6) hit a solo homerun for the 6-5 lead.
Bridgeport scored in the top of the seventh inning to tie the score at six on a solo homerun by Moss (12).
Bluefish reliever Miguel Saladin (1-0) got the win after pitching 1.2 scoreless innings. Patriots reliever Ben Grezlovski (5-3) suffered the loss, allowing a run on two hits in 1.1 innings pitched. Jorge Julio picked up his 18th save of the season after pitching a scoreless inning to end the game.
The Somerset Patriots 2010 Season presented by Ford will continue on Saturday night when the Patriots take on the Bridgeport Bluefish at 7:05 pm at TD Bank Ballpark.
