BlueClaws Win 4th & 5th Straight, Sweep Hagerstown

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The Lakewood BlueClaws took games 3 and 4 of their 4 game series from the Hagerstown Suns on Wednesday night to sweep the 4 game series. The completion of the game from Tuesday night ended on a walk off Error by Relief Pitcher Ben Graham of Hagerstown that allowed Michael Dabbs to score from 2B and make Lakewood winners 3-2 in 12 innings. The 2nd game Wednesday was a high scoring affair with Lakewood winning 9-5.

Lakewood is now a game over .500 with the 2 wins Saturday. However, the BlueClaws were mathematically eliminated from contention in the SAL Northern Division for the First Half due to other results around the South Atlantic League on Wednesday night.

The winnings pitcher in Game 1 was Mario Hollands. He improves to 5-4 on the year. Ben Graham got the loss for Hagerstown to fall to 1-3. Garett Claypool started and got the win in Game 2 for Lakewood to improve to 2-3. Matt Grace got the loss for the Suns to fall to 6-5. Claypool threw 5 innings, allowed 5 hits, 5 runs, walked 3, and struck out 6.

Edgar Duran was 2-5 in Game 1 on Wednesday. Michael Dabbs scored the game winning run after he hit a 1 out double in the 12th inning. Jim Murphy hit his 14th HR and drove in runs 48, 49 and 50 with a 3-run HR in the 1st inning of Game 2. Domingo Santana was 2-3 with a walk and 2 runs scored in game 2.

Thursday the BlueClaws will be in West Virginia to take on the West Virginia Power to begin their final series of the First Half. It is a 4 game series in Charleston, WV. RHP Lisalberto Bonilla (0-1, 0.89 ERA) will start for Lakewood, and LHP Colton Cain (4-5, 3.19 ERA) will start for the Power. First Pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
