Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

1. Congrats to Shawn Morales of Jackson who attended Saturday's game and was honored as the BlueClaws One Millionth fan. The BlueClaws are the fastest team in New Jersey and South Atlantic League professional baseball history to draw one MILLION people and it's all because of of you. Shawn won season tickets for the remainder of the season, a BlueClaws jersey and other assorted prizes, including gift certificates from Carrabba's, Klee's Bar and Grill, and Outback Steakhouse! Once again congrats to Shawn and thank you for supporting us, and we look forward to seeing you as we become the fastest New Jersey team to TWO million fans. 2. Before we get to two million in attendance though, we have to get to 1,234,567 first. Did you register yet for our tremendous promotion, 1,234,567 ... Every Fan Counts? When the 1,234,567th fan walks through the gates this year, that individual will win a grand-prize package worth $10,000. Plus you'll have a chance to win $12,345.67 in cash! In addition, another person will be picked at random to win the same prize. For a chance to win e-mail your name, address, phone number and age to everyfancounts@lakewoodblueclaws.com. 3. While the BlueClaws have had a successful run at the gate, the news on the field has been a bit more difficult. The BlueClaws lost again Thursday 5-3 to Greensboro and have now lost 12 of their last 14 and 7 of 8 on the last home stand. Run production has been the most troublesome area, as in those 12 losses the BlueClaws have scored a total of 26 runs. Bring your Rally Busters tomorrow night, and help the BlueClaws pick up some wins against the Alley Cats. And whether you're at FirstEnergy Park or not, listen to each game on 1160 AM WOBM, or www.sportsjuice.com. 4. The BlueClaws have welcomed two players to FirstEnergy Park, one who started the season here and one who's new to the BlueClaws. Casey Martinez, a catcher and minor league vet, joined the team on Tuesday in Greensboro, taking the place of Tim Gradoville, who's on the DL with a sprained ankle. Casey is the son of former Blue Jays manager Buck Martinez. Meanwhile, Omar Bramasco rejoins Lakewood, taking the place of Jeremy Isenhower who's on the DL with an upper respiratory infection. Bramasco went 2-for-3 Thursday with two RBI. 5. The BlueClaws will be home Saturday May 3 through May 10 and Reserve Seat tickets remain for all but May 4th and 6th. Tomorrow night (Saturday) is a 6:05 doubleheader and a rescheduled Toyota World of Lakewood Extravaganza fireworks night. Sunday team posters will be given to the first 2,000 fans, thanks to the US Postal Service. Monday May 5th is also a 6:05 doubleheader, and lottery tickets will be given to the first 2,000 fans 18 & up, thanks to the New Jersey Lottery. On Tuesday May 6th we have a special 10:05 a.m. start time for an Education Day. Great reserve seats are available for the rest of the home stand May 7 through May 10, with promotions including Souvenir Mugs for the first 2,000 fans 18 & up on Wednesday sponsored by Jim Curley Pontiac, The Phillie Phanatic Thursday May 8th, presented by OceanFirst Bank, Key Chains for the first 2,000 fans 18 & up sponsored by Hyundai Friday night May 9th and Homer Hammers for the first 2,000 fans 17 & under presented by Home Depot Saturday May 10th. Ticket office hours at FirstEnergy Park are Monday through Friday from 9-5 or Saturday from 9-3, and on game days from 9 through the end of the game. 6. Please make sure to mark May 22nd on your calendar. After a BlueClaws day game, Lakewood coaches and players will be at Finnigan's, located only minutes from FirstEnergy Park on Routes 9 and 70 in Lakewood. The players will wait tables during the dinner hour and the coaching staff will tend bar. All of the tips and gratuities, as well as 10 percent of gross revenue will go to the ALS. There will also be a silent auction, where we have autographed baseballs from Randy Wolf, Larry Bowa, Brett Myers, Marlon Byrd and Brandon Duckworth of the Phillies; Hall of Famers Bob Feller and Gary Carter; as well as current Mets Al Leiter and Art Howe, current Braves Marcus Giles and Mike Hampton and current Red Ken Griffey Jr. Other items include autographed pictures, bats and jerseys. You can gain additional information by calling Jim DeAngelis at 732-901-7000 ext 114. 7. Congratulations to our Season Ticket Holder of the Month for May. Debbie Strawder, of Brick, a first year season ticket holder, won a free picnic for ten people, will have the opportunity to be interviewed during a BlueClaws game broadcast on WOBM AM 1160, throw out a first pitch and receive a reserved first row parking spot for the entire month. The next winner will be chosen in the beginning of June. It's one of the many benefits of being a Season Ticket Holder. Shouldn't you become one too? Thanks again Debbie for your great support! And if you're interested in purchasing Full Season Tickets for the remainder of the season, contact Hal Hansen at 732-901-7000 ext 105. 8. The BlueClaws want to congratulate the winners of last Sunday's first-ever Ocean County Observer 5K Road Race. Nearly 400 runners participated with Rob DeFilippis of Tinton Falls winning the men's division in 15:49 and 13-year-old Amanda Cavallo capturing the women's title in 19:32. Both Rob and Amanda threw out a first pitch at that afternoon's game and were interviewed during the game broadcast on WOBM AM 1160. We hope those of you who did not participate will do so next year. Stay tuned for next year's race details.
