Rick Hummel â Kannapolis Intimidators
Pitcher Rick Hummel made the most of his 5.0 innings pitched this week for the Kannapolis Intimidators as he collected 3 saves in his 3 game appearances. The Woodstock, IL native struck out 7 batters, allowed only 4 hits and walked only one batter to ensure that his team emerged victorious in all of his appearances. Hummel saved two games this week against the Augusta GreenJackets on April 25th and April 28th in road contests. His 3rd save of the week came against the Delmarva Shorebirds on April 30th. Hummel is 1-0 on the year with a 0.64 ERA in 9 game appearances with a total of 5 saves and 13 strikeouts.
Batter of the Week
Jesse Hoorelbeke â South Georgia Waves
First baseman Jesse Hoorelbeke demonstrated great power and consistency this week for his club as he hit for a .526 average going 10 for 19 in his 5 games played. The Torrance, CA native collected two doubles, 4 homers, 8 RBI and scored 8 runs himself. Hoorelbeke also had a slugging of 1.263 and a .591 on base percentage. Jesse homered in 4 consecutive games against the Lakewood BlueClaws from April 25th â April 28th and collected 2 RBI apiece in each of these road contests. In the April 27th game, he went 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored and a stolen base in addition to the aforementioned homerun and 2 RBI to help his club to a 4-0 win.
