Wilmington, DE - On Wednesday, August 27, the Advanced-A Carolina League released its postseason honorees, with Wilmington Blue Rocks outfielder Joe Dickerson earning a spot on the league's year-end All-Star team. Dickerson is the 27th Blue Rocks player in the club's 16-year history to be named to the postseason All-Star squad.

Dickerson hit .297 with five home runs, 45 RBIs and 24 stolen bases in 87 games with the Blue Rocks this season. He presently ranks second in the circuit with 10 triples and would qualify as a top-10 hitter if he had the required number of at-bats this season. The 21-year-old has not appeared in a game since July 13 and was placed on the disabled list July 16 with a broken index finger on his left hand. Dickerson suffered the injury when he took a pitch off the finger trying to lay down a sacrifice bunt.

A native of Yorba Linda, CA, Dickerson was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the fourth round of the 2005 June draft. He was standout at Esperanza High School in Anaheim, CA and turned down a baseball scholarship from the University of Texas to sign with Kansas City. The fourth-year pro hit .289 with three homers and 43 RBIs for Low-A Burlington in 2007 and was chosen by the Royals organization as the club's Player of the Year.
