
Blue Jackets Recall T.J. Tynan from Monsters

CLEVELAND - The AHL's defending Calder Cup Champions, the Cleveland Monsters, proudly powered by Constellation, announced Friday that center T.J. Tynan was recalled by the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets for the first time in his career and on an emergency basis. Selected by Columbus in the third round (66th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Tynan contributed 7-23-30 with 29 penalty minutes and a +10 rating in 55 appearances for the Monsters this season, while leading the team in points and assists.
A 5'8", 165 lb. right-handed native of Orland Park, IL, Tynan, 25, supplied 26-98-124 with 116 penalty minutes and a +11 rating in 209 career AHL appearances for the Springfield Falcons and the Monsters spanning parts of four seasons from 2013-17. Tynan additionally logged 1-5-6 with eight penalty minutes and a -8 rating in 17 postseason appearances for the Monsters last year, helping the team claim the Calder Cup as AHL Playoff Champions.
Prior to his professional career, Tynan notched 54-107-161 with 132 penalty minutes and a +24 rating in 164 NCAA appearances for Notre Dame spanning four seasons from 2010-14. In 60 USHL appearances for the Des Moines Buccaneers during the 2009-10 season, Tynan posted 17-55-72 with 55 penalty minutes and a -21 rating.
