Oklahoma City Blue News Release
ORLANDO - The Oklahoma City Blue (4-1) knocked down a season-high 15 three-pointers to beat the Memphis Hustle (2-3), 120-106, on Wednesday night. Seven Blue players drained three-pointers as the team shot 60.0 percent from behind the arc.
Five Oklahoma City players scored in double figures. Thunder two-way player Moses Brown notched his third double-double in four days with 18 points and 13 rebounds while swatting two blocks. Thunder assignment player Ty Jerome finished close behind with 16 points, four assists and three rebounds. Off the bench, -mer Yurtseven posted his second double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.
"I thought we made some good plays kicking out to shooters," Head Coach Grant Gibbs said. "We have capable shooters here, and I think we're doing a good job of finding those guys. I think our guards and the guys that are coming down on the break are keeping their heads up and looking for guys that have opportunities to shoot."
Antonius Cleveland and Jerome set the pace for the Blue in the first quarter as eight Oklahoma City players appeared in the score column. The Blue's shooting continued into the second as a Ryan Woolridge three kicked off a 15-2 run. Oklahoma City finished the half hitting 9-for-13 from three as Cleveland went 4-of-5 from behind the arc. Oklahoma City's defense held Memphis to 24.0 percent shooting in the second quarter.
Out of the break, the Blue's lead grew to as many as 24 points. Ahmad Caver's hot hand scored 11 unanswered to bring Memphis within 12 with 11:06 on the clock. Following a timeout, Shaq Buchanan and Bennie Boatwright hit back-to-back shots to narrow the gap to seven. Jaylen Hoard's late offensive rebounds helped kick the Blue's lead back out to 11. Oklahoma City drained five threes to close out the final six minutes of the game and earn the victory.
For the Hustle, Ahmad Caver posted a game-high 35 points, hitting 12-of-15 shots.
The Blue will take the court again on Friday afternoon, Feb. 19, against the Lakeland Magic at 2:30 p.m. CT at The Field House.
