March 31, 2018 - NBA G League (G League)
Oklahoma City Blue News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - The No. 3 seed Oklahoma City Blue fell 125-105 to the No. 6 seed South Bay Lakers inside Chesapeake Energy Arena on Saturday afternoon, ending their season in the first round of the NBA G League playoffs.
The Blue played behind from the jump, with the Lakers extending their lead to 20 points at 54-34 after a Scott Machado three-pointer early in the second period. The Blue kept battling, eventually cutting the deficit to four behind a pair of Dakari Johnson free throws with 7:16 remaining in the third quarter.
On assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, Johnson finished the night with 15 points on 5-for-9 shooting as well as five rebounds. Two-way player PJ Dozier recorded 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Despite battling back, the Blue were not able to overcome South Bay's hot shooting night from three-point land. The team made 20 long balls, including 12 in the second half.
"We are disappointed, but I want to give South Bay a lot of credit. They played really well today," said Head Coach Mark Daigneault. "I am really happy with our season as a whole, but obviously disappointed with the game today."
Two-way player Daniel Hamilton had a double-double on the night, finishing with 18 points and 12 rebounds while Bryce Alford had a team-high 19 points, aided by 4-for-8 shooting from behind the arc.
Four Lakers scored at least 20 points, with Scott Machado leading the way in a 27-point and 13-assist night.
The Lakers will continue on to the Western Conference Semifinals against the Reno Bighorns.
