Blue Crabs Take Game One in Walk-Off Fashion

(Waldorf, MD, August 17th 2015) --- Looking to break a five game losing streak, Southern Maryland pulled off the walk-off victory in the bottom of the 12th, winning by the final of 6-5 over the York Revolution.

In the bottom of the first, Southern Maryland scored first on a Jovan Rosa RBI single to make it 1-0. In the bottom of the third, Southern Maryland put up a three spot on the scoreboard. Antone DeJesus once again started the rally with a single. Casey Stevenson then singled, followed by a Zach Wilson walk to load the bases. Jovan Rosa ripped another single to left to score DeJesus to make it 2-0. Two batters later Craig Maddox singled to score Stevenson, and the next hitter Casey Frawley hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Wilson to make it 4-0 Blue Crabs.

York scored in bunches tonight, starting with scoring three runs in the top of the fourth. Andres Perez started off the rally with a walk. Two batters later, Bryan Pounds was hit by a pitch to put two runners on with two outs. Telvin Nash then ripped a double to left center to score Perez to make it 4-1. After Luis De La Cruz walked, James Simmons ripped a double to right center score Pounds, and Nash to make it a one run ballgame.

Southern Maryland added the insurance run they needed in the bottom of the fifth. Jovan Rosa began the frame with a double. Three batters later, Casey Frawley lashed a single to score Rosa to make it 5-3.

Fast forward to the top of the sixth, Yeicok Calderon started the top of the inning with a double over the head of the right fielder Wagner. Two batters later, Telvin Nash walked, and two batters later James Simmons drove a triple into right center to score Calderon, and Nash to tie the game at 5-5.

Both teams were held scoreless until the bottom of the 12th inning. Jovan Rosa singled, and was moved over to second on a sacrifice bunt by Keith Castillo. Craig Maddox was intentionally walked to put two runners on for Casey Frawley. On a 2-2 pitch, Casey Frawley roped a double to left center over the head of James Simmons to score the winning run Rosa to bring the score to it's final of 6-5.

Despite stranding 12 runners on base, Southern Maryland out-hit York 15-7. Jovan Rosa went 4-6, with two RBIs, while Casey Frawley drove in three runs. York used nine pitchers overall. Southern Maryland now has seven walk-off wins this season.

Game two of the series will take place tomorrow evening. The first pitch is set for 7:05 P.M. LHP Frank Gailey (3-3, 2.23) will throw for York, while RHP Brian Baker (5-9, 5.12) will start for Southern Maryland.
