Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release

WALDORF,MD - Bluefish starting pitcher Jonathan Albaladejo pitched seven shutout innings to win the series opener against the Blue Crabs by a final of 1-0 on Tuesday night at Regency Furniture Stadium.

Despite an outstanding effort by Blue Crabs starting pitcher Brian Burres who put in six innings of work, the Bluefish pushed across an unearned run in the fourth inning on a Jonathan Galvez RBI single, and the Blue Crabs just couldn't string together enough hits to score any runs against the Bluefish.

The Blue Crabs best chance at scoring came in the seventh. Angel Flores singled to center field and later reached third on a fielder's choice by Eric Garcia but D'Arby Myers flew out to end the inning and the chance was squandered.

The 1-5-6-5-4 double play was easily the most interesting thing that happened for a majority of the game. In the top of the seventh, Bluefish Anthony Giansanti lead off the inning with a single and stole second but was thrown out at third on the front end of the double play hit by Rossmel Perez.

Blue Crabs Jamar Walton extended his hitting streak with two singles and has now hit safely in 12 consecutive games.

The Blue Crabs will face the Bluefish for the second game of a three game series tomorrow night at 7:05 P.M. at Regency Furniture Stadium.
