Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have announced plans for their first ever post-game "Diamond Dig" at Regency Furniture Stadium, to take place following the regular season finale against the York Revolution on Sunday, September 19. First pitch that day is scheduled for 2:05 p.m.

Prior to the game a 1.1 carat, round cut diamond ring will be buried somewhere between first and third base in the infield. Once the game concludes, all registered participants may search and dig for the diamond until it's found - and "finders keepers." Whoever recovers the diamond ring will head home with the prize. Each contestant will be armed with their very own spoon in the search for the diamond. This event is being sponsored by Golden Renaissance Jewellers in Waldorf.

Those who register for the Diamond Dig before the day of the game will have the opportunity to dig for 25 minutes before those who register at the ballpark the day of the game. There are two ways to register:

- Stop by Golden Renaissance Jewellers, located at 2591 Crain Highway in Waldorf, open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Ask for a free ticket to the Blue Crabs game on September 19, so you may participate in the Diamond Dig.

- Those interested may also register at any remaining Blue Crabs home game, by visiting the Diamond Dig table on the concourse.

This contest is open to men and women, and all participants must be 21 years of age. While similar events at other ballparks have been very popular with women, guys are encouraged to participate as well; after all, wouldn't a FREE diamond ring make for a great gift?
