WINNIPEG, MB - After becoming a free agent last week, import linebacker Joe Lobendahn has re-signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. As per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"We're very fortunate to be able to lock up another one of our own free agents," said Vice-President and General Manager Joe Mack. "Joe is one of the hardest hitters in the league and has become a true leader on our team. He brings a veteran presence to our locker room and we're glad to have him return."
Lobendahn (5-11, 242, Washington, DOB: February 15, 1983 in Honolulu, Hawaii) started 17 games at middle linebacker last season, registering 55 tackles, three sacks, one fumble recovery and 12 special teams tackles. He was named the CFL's defensive player of the week for his week one performance when he made eight tackles and two sacks against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Lobendahn has spent his entire three-year career in Winnipeg, making 148 tackles, five sacks, three fumble recoveries - including one for a touchdown - and 20 special teams tackles.
