Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Blue Bombers have made a change to their coaching staff today, hiring Charlie Carpenter to coach the offensive line.
Carpenter replaces Ronnie Vinklarek, who has left the football club for personal reasons.
Carpenter has a wealth of experience in the coaching ranks, and was last with the Montreal Alouettes in 2007, as their offensive line coach.
"Charlie was always a consideration for me. He's a tremendous football coach with a lot of CFL experience," said head coach Mike Kelly.
Carpenter enters his tenth year coaching in the CFL, and second stint with the Blue Bombers. He was last here in 1992 and '93, when he worked with Mike Kelly under then-head coach Cal Murphy.
"I'm excited to have him back with me again, because the last time we were together we went to back-to-back Grey Cups," Kelly said.
Prior to 2007 in Montreal, Carpenter spent the '06 season with the Toronto Argonauts. Carpenter has also coached the B.C. Lions' offence during 1997 and '98 seasons. Before that, Carpenter won back-to back Grey Cups' with the Baltimore Stallions and Toronto Argonauts in 1995 and '96 as the offensive line coach of both clubs.
"This is a very good addition to our football club, and I am thrilled about welcoming Charlie to our organization," Kelly said.
