Blowfish Walk off Again
June 19, 2012 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Lexington County Blowfish News Release
COLUMBIA, S.C.- For the second time in less than a week the Columbia Blowfish walked off winners. This time they topped the Morehead City Marlins 3-2 on Tuesday night at Historic Capital City Stadium in Coastal Plain League play. The win puts the Blowfish into a tie with the Forest City Owls for first place in the Western Division.
Gabriel Loweree was once again the hero with a walk off single to deep left center field to score Joshua Miller who walked to begin the bottom of the ninth. "I waited for my pitch and put a good swing on it and was able to get it into the gap for the win," said Loweree.
D.J. Osborne got the win for the Blowfish going the final three innings giving up no runs on a hit while striking out three. Osborne has been solid all season in relief for the Blowfish. Chase Ritarchik started on the mound for the Blowfish going four innings giving up two runs on four hits with three strikeouts. Joshua Knab also pitched two innings giving up no runs on a hit while striking out two.
The Blowfish used good pitching and timely hitting to get their third straight win and will play at Thomasville on Wednesday before returning home Thursday to face the Hi-Toms again. First pitch for that game is set for 7:05 and tickets are available at www.blowfishbaseball.com.
The Columbia Blowfish are in their seventh season at Historic Capital City Stadium and are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league.
