Blowfish Take Two from RedWolves

June 21, 2016 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Lexington County Blowfish News Release

FLORENCE, S.C. - Lexington County had lost 5 of their last 6 coming into a doubleheader Monday night against in-state rival Florence.

The Blowfish got just what the doctor ordered at Sparrow Stadium.

Lexington County knocked off the RedWolves twice tonight sweeping the doubleheader winning game one 7-1 and game two 6-2. The Blowfish used two big second innings to bury the Wolves on the road.

In both games the Blowfish trailed heading into the top of the second inning but took the lead in both games during that frame. They plated all seven runs of their runs in game 1 during the second and 5 of their 6 runs in the second during game 2.

The Blowfish got solid pitching out of their staff tonight. Zach Kolodziejski (Niagara) went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 1 run and gave way to Jimmy Towsnend Chase (Western Michigan) to shut the door on the Wolves.

In game two the Blowfish got a complete game out of Ryan Hedrick (Presbyterian) who tossed seven strong innings allowing 2 runs on just 5 hits. Hedrick struck out 8 Florence RedWolves en route to the road victory.

Florence not only battled the Blowfish all night but the umpires as well. The RedWolves had coaches tossed from each game of the doubleheader; once for arguing balls and strikes the other for a check swing call in game two.

The Wilson Tobs make their only trip to Lexington County Baseball Stadium tomorrow night as the Blowfish settle in for a two game home stand. Coverage begins on z93.1 FM The Lake at 6:50 p.m. and first pitch is slated for 7 p.m.
