Lexington County Blowfish News Release
Gastonia, N.C. (July 24, 2015) -- For the second time this week, the Lexington County Blowfish defeated the West Division-leading Gastonia Grizzlies--this time at Sims Legion Park, and by a score of 9-5.
Lexington County would jump out to three different leads over the course of the game. The third one would finally do the trick.

Jared Williams (University of South Carolina) reached base on a wild pitch after striking out in the sixth inning. That would have been the third out of the inning, but that one mistake would come back to bite the home team.
Two batters later, J.D. Crowe (Francis Marion) slapped a single into center field, bringing Williams home. Keenan Innis (Georgia Tech), who would make it on board with a walk, scored on a wild pitch.
The Blowfish appeared to have an unshakable lead once Sly Edwards (Charleston Southern) smashed his second home run of the season, a three-run jack in the fourth inning, to take the Blowfish from behind 3-1 to up 4-3. An additional run courtesy of an Innis single made the lead 5-3, but Gastonia rallied to tie an inning later.
Crowe added his first of two RBI to get the Blowfish off on the right foot. His one-out groundout scored Williams for the first of two times on this night.
Blowfish batters forced 132 pitches out of Gastonia starter Brandon Casas, who lasted 6.2 innings.
Brandon White (Lander University) tossed another gem out of the pen. He did not allow a run, and struck out seven Grizzlies batters. He would also earn his first win of the season. Over the course of 12.2 innings, the Chapin native has fanned 21 batters.Trevor Bradley (USC-Aiken) shut the door in the ninth inning and preserved the win.
Blowfish pitching forced the bottom six batters in Gastonia's lineup to hit 3-for-24 on the night. The top of the lineup of Casey Scoggins, Ryan Whitt and Jackson Mims, conversely, hit 6-for-13, scoring all five runs.
As a result of the win, the Blowfish hold sole possession of fourth place, the final playoff berth, in the West Division. The Blowfish will look to continue the momentum on Saturday night when they host the Florence RedWolves for a 7:05 start at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
Special one-of-a-kind pinstripe uniforms will be worn for one night only. A silent auction, with all proceeds benefitting the Lexington District One Educational Foundation, will occur during the course of the game. A Taylor Swift-themed fireworks extravaganza will follow.
