
Blowfish Dominate Hi-Toms

THOMASVILLE, N.C.- The Columbia Blowfish won their fourth straight game Wednesday night against the Thomasville Hi-Toms 11-1 in Coastal Plain League play. The win keeps the Blowfish tied for first with the Forest City Owls in the West.
Federico Castagnini led the Blowfish at the plate going 2-4 with four RBI's while Ryan Gebhardt went 3-6 with an RBI and three runs scored. Gabe Loweree also chipped in two RBI's while going 2-5.
Stuart Pound started on the mound for the Blowfish going six innings and giving up one run on five hits while striking out seven. Adam Albers pitched two innings of relief giving up no runs while striking out one and Griffin Jones pitched the ninth for the Blowfish.
The Blowfish return home Thursday and will again face the Hi-Toms of Thomasville at 7:05 at Historic Capital City Stadium. Tickets are available at www.blowfishbaseball.com.
The Columbia Blowfish are in their seventh season at Historic Capital City Stadium and are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Celebrating its 16th season in 2012, the CPL features 14 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with the use of wooden bats. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts. Furthermore, the CPL has had over 1,000 alumni drafted and 51 alums - including 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander - make their Major League debut thus far.
