Lexington County Blowfish News Release
ASHEBORO, N.C. - Lexington County jumped out ahead early in the first after Chas McCormick (Millersville) tripled and Jordan Wren (Georgia Southern) plated McCormick via a sacrifice fly.
The Blowfish didn't look back from that point.
They jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third when Chris Singleton (Charleston Southern) laced a three run bomb over the elevated left field wall at McCrary Park. The Fish added two more in the fourth.
All of Asheboro's offence came in the fourth when they plated their only two runs and knocked their only two hits in the ballgame.
Keyton Gibson (Georgia Tech) pitched three solid innings for Lexington County only allowing a walk in the third. Hayden Deal (Presbyterian) was strong in relief of Gibson settling in after allowing the only two Copperhead runs in the fourth.
Deal went on to strike out 6 Copperheads in 4 innings of work.
The Blowfish handed off to Steve Pastora (Western Michigan) to shut the door on the Snakes through the last two and as the rain pounded McCrary Park, Lexington County left Asheboro with the 9-2 victory.
It is the second straight night that Blowfish pitching held their opponents to just two hits and in back to back games Lexington County has registered double-digit hits.
Tomorrow night the Blowfish return home to Lexington County Baseball stadium to welcome in the Savannah Bananas. Coverage on z93.1 FM The Lake begins at 6:50 p.m. and first pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m.
