PORT HURON, Mich. - Port Huron scored two goals in each of the first two periods to register a 4-0 International Hockey League victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder before 1,142 people Tuesday night at McMorran Arena.
Bloomington's record dropped to 27-35-2-5 record (61 points), while Port Huron improved to 41-20-6-3 (91 points). The PrairieThunder returns to action Wednesday with a 6:30 p.m. game at Flint.
Kris Vernarsky and Nick Lindberg scored goals in the first period with assists to Jason Chafe, Kerry Bowman, Derek Patrosso and Ian Turner.
Tab Lardner and Steve Rymsha had the second period goals for the IceHawks. Lindberg had two assists, while B.J. Adams and Turner had the other assists. Rymsha's goal was on the power play.
Ryan Mior earned the shutout victory for Port Huron by stopping 19 shots. Jason Wolfe took the loss, while turning back 35 of 39 shots.
