Green Bay, WIâ The (4-6) Green Bay Blizzard will be tackling the (6-4) Quad City Steamwheelers at the Resch Center. The Blizzard is entering Friday's game on a one game skid after falling to the Birmingham Steeldogs 56-54 last Saturday night. The Blizzard have lost 3 of their last 4 by a total of 12 points.
The Blizzard enter the game ranked 2nd in Pass Offense (279.6 yards/game), 3rd in the af2 in Total Offense (284.3 yards/game), and 7th in Scoring Offense (53.2 points/game). Defensively, the Blizzard is 23rd in Scoring Defense (53.3 points/game) and Total defense (286.4 yards/game), and 25th in Pass Defense (271.7 yards/game).
The Steamwheelers bring the 6th ranked offense in Total and Pass Offense (270.7 and 254.3 yards/game), and 9th in Scoring Offense (50.9 points/game). Defensively, they are 5th in Scoring Defense (39.8 points/game), 13th in Total Defense (254.4 yards/game), and 16th in Pass Defense (239.6 yards/game).
In the first meeting on May 1st, QB Chris Greisen was not able to play and the Blizzard fell 47-26 in Moline, IL. QB Dennis Gile had six turnovers on the night which eventually led to the lopsided score. The Blizzard were down by just one point at halftime. Like so many other games this season, the second half has killed the Blizzard. The Blizzard have been outscored 154 to 80 in the third quarter, but only 2 points total on the season.
OS Randall Lane has been moved from Short Term IR (SIR) to Long Term IR (LIR) and will miss a minimum of two more weeks. Also, the Blizzard have activated WR/DB Quincy Roe from SIR, place WR/LB Quentin Ware-Bey on SIR, placed DS Mike Mills on Re-assignment, and have been Assigned DS Chris Martin. Martin (5'11, 190, Washington State) was on the AFL's Los Angeles Avengers practice squad in 2004.
