Bakersfield Blitz News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Bakersfield Blitz of the af2 return to home turf for a West Division matchup this Saturday at Centennial Garden. The Blitz (6-4) hosts the Central Valley Coyotes (1-9) at 7:00pm on Visor Giveaway Night. The game is a matchup of ‘Old Blitz' vs. ‘New Blitz' as Central Valley was renamed the Coyotes when the former Bakersfield Blitz were sold and relocated to Fresno last winter.

The first 2,000 fans will receive a Blitz visor, courtesy of KERN 1410, Bright House Networks and 24 Hour Fitness. It's also a Bright House Networks Family Night. All subscribers can purchase $5 terrace level tickets by presenting the coupon found in this month's cable bill. 24 Hour Fitness is also hosting Member Discount Night, offering 2-for-1 admission by showing your 24 Hour Fitness member ID at the box office.

With Father's Day right around the corner, the Blitz want to pay tribute to all dads with a Father's Day special. All dads get in free with the purchase of a ticket for their child – young or old. Nothing says, ‘I love you, Dad," like the gift of Blitz football.

And for all Lakers fans in mourning right now, the Blitz are trying to ease your pain. Even though the NBA Championship eluded them this year, in celebration of the Lakers reaching the finals, anyone wearing Lakers gear to the game can purchase 2-for-1 tickets.

Join the Bakersfield Blitz live each and every Thursday from 6:00 – 7:00pm at the Holiday Inn Select for the "Indoor War Report" with Head Coach Rick Van Horne. Every week, fans can get the inside scoop on the Bakersfield Blitz, hear exclusive interviews with players, and win great Blitz prizes. This week's special guests are OL/DL Ahmad Bhatti and Special Teams Coach and Director of Player Personnel Steven G. Folmar. The Holiday Inn Select also offers food and drink specials for everyone that comes out. If you can't make it to the show, the IWR can be heard live on KGEO AM 1230.

All Blitz games, home and away, can be heard on KGEO AM 1230 with the "Voice of the Blitz" Kevin Bartl. This weekend's game can also be seen live on Bright House Networks Ch. 21. A replay of the match will be shown on Sunday afternoon on Bright House Networks at 1:00pm on the same station.

Blitz Add Lineman, Make Roster Changes

The Blitz made several changes to the roster today, beginning with the addition of OL/DL David Lose, a rookie who recently finished his collegiate career at Oregon State University. Lose (pronounced LOW-see) played his junior and senior seasons on the offensive line, but spent time as a freshman and sophomore on the defensive line.

In addition, local product Brian Walker was activated off IR today and will handle the kicking duties this weekend. Ed Romo was placed on re-assignment. OL/DL Mike Felemi was moved from the Short Term IR to the Long Term IR today as well, putting him out of commission until July 10th in Hawaii. WR/LB LaCorey Collins was placed on team suspension today for violation of team policy and likewise will be unavailable for the Blitz this weekend.

Tickets are on sale now at the Garden Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com, or charge by phone at 322-2525. The Garden box office is open Monday through Friday 10:00am – 5:00pm and opens at noon this Saturday. Pro-rated season tickets and group outings for the Blitz are on sale now by contacting the Blitz office at 716-BLITZ (2548). For up-to-date information on the Blitz, log on to www.bakersfieldblitz.com.

Extra Points: Despite last week's loss in Memphis, the Blitz remains ranked on the af2 Top 12 Coaches Poll. Bakersfield pulls in at 12th place in the rankings, with Hawaii jumping ahead of them to 11th place.
