Green Bay Blizzard News Release

Game Update: This Saturday night's game is fan appreciation night with several great promotions. The game will feature two of the top teams in the Central North Division as the Chicago Slaughter takes on the Green Bay Blizzard. The Blizzard have locked up a first round playoff game, but with a win over Chicago and a Sioux Falls loss puts the Blizzard into the #2 seed. Should the Blizzard advance to the second round, the #2 seed gives the Blizzard a great chance at hosting the second round game. In Chicago camp, the Slaughter needs a win to keep their playoff dreams alive. Saturday's game will feature several giveaways for Fan Appreciation Night. The first 2,000 fans who want a poster will receive a Green Bay Blizzard Team Poster presented by Van Lanen Inc. and Time Warner Cable. The first 1,000 fans 12 and under will also receive a pair of free cheer sticks. To round out the nights festivities, it is family night which offers $1.00 hot dogs and $1.00 sodas.

Blizzard Update: The Blizzard put on an offensive clinic as they beat West Michigan 74-9. The very first play of the game saw Randy Bell rushing for a 45-yard touchdown. Green Bay never looked back from that opening score. The Blizzard controlled almost all aspects of the game. In total offensive yards the Blizzard had 258 total yards compared to only 77 from the ThunderHawks. The Green Bay defense also put up quite the front, accounting for 5.5 sacks on the day. The victory enables the Blizzard home field for the first round of the playoffs and the Central North title. The Blizzard will host Central North rivals, the Chicago Slaughter to close out the season.

Slaughter Update: For the second time this season, the La Crosse Spartans (3-10) defeated the Chicago Slaughter (6-7). With Chicago's playoff hopes in the balance, the Spartans were able to pull off a stunning victory in the final minute of the game. With 43 seconds left on the game clock, Spartans Quarterback Buddy Rivera ran in the touchdown for a one yard score. The game started out in Chicago's favor when Slaughter QB Randy Hutchinson hooked up with WR Reggie Gray for the opening score of the game. Chicago will finish their season in Green Bay as they need a win over the Central North champs for a playoff berth.
