August 20, 2024 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Green Bay Blizzard News Release

The Green Bay Blizzard are selected as the IFL Franchise of the Year and Community Relations of the Year for 2024! This means the Blizzard have been selected as winners of those awards in back-to-back seasons! Winning both awards in back-to-back seasons has never been accomplished in the IFL.

2024 Franchise of the Year

The IFL Franchise of the Year is selected based on their performance on the field, dedication to improving the league, how they represent the IFL, their game attendance, community involvement, marketing efforts, sales, etc. The award is highly regarded in the IFL. Last year, the Green Bay Blizzard was named the Franchise of the Year after their 20th anniversary season concluded.

In 2024, the Green Bay Blizzard had a historic season of football with a regular season record of 13-3, the best in franchise history and the best in the Eastern Conference. The team moved on to the postseason and hosted two playoff games in Green Bay, which means rowdy Blizzard fans filled the stands at home ten times during the 2024 season! The large, loud crowds were difference makers all season, as the Green Bay finished with an 8-2 record when playing at the Resch Center.

But the Blizzard prides itself on being more than great football. By working with organizations such as Schreiber Foods, Desert Veterans of Wisconsin, Ribbon of Hope, and more, the team gives back to the Green Bay community and those in need. In addition, Blizzard players, coaches, staff, and even mascots appear at many events during the year! This includes visits to many schools in and around the Green Bay area, youth football camps, Farmers' Markets, local businesses, and more.

After over 50 community appearances, 14 wins, eight unique theme nights, two home playoff games, a post-game laser show, a post-game concert, an indoor snowstorm, ten action-packed Beach Ball Battles, and so much more, the Green Bay Blizzard has been named as the 2024 IFL Franchise of the Year.

It is an incredibly rare achievement to be honored with the Franchise of the Year award in back-to-back seasons, which makes this year's selection more impactful. Winning in back-to-back seasons is not only historic, it is also a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in the Green Bay Blizzard. We all strive to make the organization the best it can be, and for two years in a row, we have been honored by the IFL and our peers. Thank you to every one of you!

2024 Community Relations of the Year

In addition to Franchise of the Year, the Green Bay Blizzard has been honored with 2024 Community Relations of the Year in another back-to-back selection!

This award is given to the team that exemplified outstanding service and dedication to their surrounding community. The Green Bay Blizzard believes in investing in the people who have invested so much into the organization. As a result, players, coaches, staff, and even mascots can be found at various events and appearances throughout the year. In addition, the organization works with incredible groups who work to improve the Green Bay area. The community is a cornerpiece of the Green Bay Blizzard, making the award deeply meaningful to the organization. Thank you to everyone in the community!

Coach of the Year

The Green Bay Blizzard finished with an overall record of 14-4, the most wins of any team in the IFL. They also held the first-place spot in the Eastern Conference and toted one of the best defenses in the league. After an incredible season, Head Coach Corey Roberson is the 2024 IFL Coach of the Year. This is his second Coach of the Year award with the Green Bay Blizzard. Here is what the IFL had to say about Coach Roberson's selection.

"The Indoor Football League is proud to announce Corey Roberson of the Green Bay Blizzard has been named the 2024 Coach of the Year award following Green Bay's impressive season as the top team in the Eastern Conference. Roberson's Blizzard was one of the top teams in the league this year, ending the 2024 season with a 13-3 record and sporting one of the top defensive units in the league.

Defensively, Green Bay was among the top three in multiple statistical categories. The Blizzard ranked first in fewest points allowed per game (33.7), sacks (27), and fumble recoveries (9). Green Bay's defense was also the top unit at defending the pass this season, allowing the least amount of passing yards (1,777) and touchdowns (32) all season.

On the offensive side of the ball, Corey Roberson's Green Bay Blizzard had the third-most rushing touchdowns in the league (56) and third-best passing efficiency rating (108.5) in the league.

Whether offensively or defensively, this Green Bay Blizzard team coached by Corey Roberson was among the league's best. Following the 2024 season, coach Roberson had two players named All-Rookie, one player named Second Team All-IFL, and two players named First Team All-IFL.

After being named Coach of the Year in 2019, Head Coach Corey Roberson earns the title again, coming in as the 2024 IFL Coach of the Year."

Defensive Player of the Year

The Green Bay Blizzard defense was one of the best in the league. It was led by a defensive back Ravarius Rivers. After an incredible season, the IFL named Rivers the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year. Here is what the IFL had to say about Rivers' selection.

"The Indoor Football League is proud to announce that Ravarius Rivers of the Green Bay Blizzard has been named the 2024 Defensive Player of the Year. Rivers was a top player on one of the top defenses in the IFL, allowing just 33.7 points and 194.2 yards per game. Against the pass, Rivers and the Blizzard defense were the best in the league, allowing just 111.1 yards of passing offense per game.

Tied for the league lead in interceptions, Rivers hauled in eight interceptions through 15 games, returning them for the third-most yards (49) in the IFL. Rivers ranked fourth in the league in tackles (91.5), adding three tackles for loss to this stat line. As a member of one of the league's top defenses, Rivers was responsible for 10 pass breakups and two blocked kicks this season, making him a defensive force all year long.

This comes in as the second accolade of the season for Rivers, already earning a spot on the 2024 All-IFL First-Team Defense. Following his performance through 15 games this season, Rivers ends the year as the top defensive player in the entire league."
