Green Bay Blizzard News Release
Even though the Green Bay Blizzard enjoyed a bye last weekend, the team has risen one spot in the weekly af2 Coaches Poll to #9. After winning their third straight game, the Blizzard goes for their fourth win in a row against the Stockton Lightning this Saturday night at 7:30pm at the Resch Center.
The Blizzard has rebounded from a brutal early season schedule to post a 5-4 record heading into the second half of the season. If the playoffs started today, the Blizzard would hold a Wild Card spot as the 3rd seed in the American Conference.
This Saturday night the Blizzard plays host to the Stockton Lightning (3-6), a 2006 expansion team. It will be Great Wolf Lodge/Blue Harbor Resort "Fanbana Night," with the first 1,000 fans receiving a Blizzard Fanbana as they enter the arena, courtesy of Great Wolf Lodge and Blue Harbor Resort.
Before the game, fans are invited to the Bart Starr Plaza Blizzard Tailgate Party, which begins at 5:00pm. Fans can enjoy all they can eat and drink (soda, beer, burgers, brats, and more) for only $15.00, and this week all fans age 12 and under are absolutely free when they show their Blizzard game ticket.
The game will also be "Faith Night," and the Blizzard will present family-oriented activities all night long. To kick things off, the National Anthem will be performed by the choir of one of the largest churches in the area, Bayside Church.
Then there will be a special award presentation for the first graduating class of Bruiser's Reading Club. The Top 10 readers will be the evening's Honorary Captains, and Tyler Dutkowski - who led all Reading Club members with a whopping 3,520 minutes read - will flip the coin to begin the game.
During the game there will be even more going on. There will be a halftime performance by the participants of the 2006 Green Bay Freeze Dance Team Dance Clinic, which is being held earlier in the day. The halftime show will also feature the return of the Pure Platinum Dance Crew, who performed to a great response at a Blizzard game last season.
Also performing at halftime will be national recording artist "Nails the MC," a Christian rap artist based in Florida who performs at sporting events and in concerts all over the country.
A talented musician who writes all of his own material - music and lyrics - his original music is intelligent, upbeat and edgy with a positive message. He is on tour in support of his new album, "This Is Not A Game," and he will be performing the first single, "Oh My God." Nails will be accompanied on the field by Pure Platinum, and will be on hand during and after the game to meet the fans.
No stranger to Arena Football, Nails spent two years with the af2's Jacksonville Tomcats. He enjoyed a solid Arena Football career as a FB/LB, leading the team in rushing in both his seasons. Although Nails also known for his impenetrable blocking skills, he was also a hard-nosed, dependable ballcarrier who averaged 3.4 yards per carry and scored 9 TDs. On defense, he was also a force, posting a fumble recovery and numerous big tackles.
Nails, who is married and has a daughter, moved seamlessly into the music world when his playing career ended. He played collegiately at Grand Valley State and professionally in Jacksonville, and he has used the contacts he has made to perform regularly from Florida to Michigan. His performance at the Resch Center will be his first appearance in Wisconsin. Still a fan of Arena Football, he enjoys performing in the arenas he once played.
