Green Bay Blizzard News Release
Green Bay, WI - The Green Bay Blizzard will hit the road for the second time in less than a week as they look to get in the win column in Des Moines against the Iowa Barnstormers (1-0) on Friday night.
The Blizzard (0-1) are coming off a 39-15 loss at Cedar Rapids and look to get the offense going against a Barnstormer team that gave up 50 points in their 56-50 victory over the Colorado Crush. This past Saturday night, the Blizzard could only muster 145 yards of total offense and committed 3 costly turnovers.
The offense, highlighted by a 45 yard touchdown pass from Matt Behrendt to Markeith Summers, showed brief moments of being able to move the ball well downfield against the Titans. To be successful in Iowa, the Blizzard will need a boost from the running game. Behrendt led the team in rushing with 32 yards, but will need more than the 4 yards it gained from the running back position.
Defensively, Ryan Smith, who finished with 1 sack and 2 tackles for loss against the Titans, will look to pressure former Blizzard quarterback Donovan Porterie. Porterie led the Barnstormer attack last Saturday night as he tossed 3 touchdown passes on 15 of 26 passing, 1 rushing touchdown, and almost 300 yards of total offense.
Fans are welcome to attend Replay Sports Bar and Grill located at 1731 Fort Howard Avenue in De Pere to watch the game and cheer on the Blizzard. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05pm Friday night.
The home opener is scheduled for Sunday, March 6 at Aurora BayCare Freeze Field at the Resch Center against the defending champion Sioux Falls Storm. Kickoff is set for 3:05pm and tickets are available now at the Resch Center box office or online at www.TicketStarOnline.com.
