Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers have signed two prospects to WHL Education Contracts. The Blazers announced today that they have signed 15-year-old defenseman Connor Clouston and 16-year-old forward Brayden Gelsinger.
Clouston was the Blazers second pick and selected in the 3rd round of the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. The 6'1", 178lb defenseman played in 29 games with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Alberta Midget Hockey League. Clouston recorded a goal and eight assists along with 90 penalty minutes this season.
"Connor is a big, solid, puck-moving defenseman with a physical edge," says Director of Player Personnel, Matt Recchi. "We are happy with Connor's progress this season in Medicine Hat and believe he will challenge for a roster spot this upcoming season."
Gelsinger was listed by the Blazers following 2011 training camp this past September. The 5'9" forward had 22 goals, 20 assists for 42 points in 41 games with the Tisdale Trojans of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League.
"Brayden's work ethic and speed was noticed immediately at our training camp this past August and September," commented Recchi. "Brayden had a very good year in Tisdale and we look forward to him being part of our hockey club in the near future."
