WHL Unveils Eastern All Stars

Calgary, AB - The Western Hockey League has announced its 2011-12 Eastern Conference First and Second All Star Teams as well as the Eastern Conference Finalists for the 2012 Awards and the Brandon Wheat Kings will be well represented.

Two members of the Wheat Kings - captain Mark Stone and 17-year old defenceman Ryan Pulock were chosen to the First All Star Team while 19-year old left-winger Michael Ferland was selected to the Second Team. Stone joined Medicine Hat's Emerson Etem as unanimous choices to the First Team.

As well, Stone, who finished second in the WHL scoring race this season with 41 goals and 123 points, was named the Eastern Conference Finalist for Most Sportsmanlike Player. The WHL Player of the Year finalists will be announced on Wednesday, April 18th and the winners will be announced at the 2012 Awards Luncheon in Calgary on May 2nd.

Ferland enjoyed a career year, scoring a team high 47 goals and 96 points while Pulock finished third in scoring among WHL blueliners with 60 points including nineteen goals in 71 games.

The WHL will announce the Western Conference All-Stars and Awards Finalists tomorrow Thursday.

Stone, Pulock, Ferland and the Wheat Kings will kick off their 2012 WHL playoff run Thursday night in Calgary against the Hitmen. Following the first two games of the best of seven series, the scene will shift to Winnipeg's MTS Centre for games three, four and five (if necessary) on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday nights.

The Wheat Kings are playing their first round home games in Winnipeg due to the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair, which will be held next week at Brandon's Keystone Centre.
