Blast obtains McPeak from KiXX
October 28, 2004 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Baltimore Blast News Release
Baltimore â Baltimore Blast General Manager Kevin Healey announced today that the team has traded its fourth-round pick in the upcoming MISL Amateur Draft to the Philadelphia KiXX for defender Tony McPeak. McPeak is signed to a 15-day/five-game contract, as of October 29, and will travel with the Blast to St. Louis today for Friday night's match against the Steamers. Baltimore acquired the fourth-round pick from Cleveland earlier this month when the Blast traded defender Wendell Regis to the Force.
"Tony is an experienced player in the MISL and has the ability to play multiple positions," Healey said. "With the recent injury to Danny Kelly, he will get immediate playing time."
McPeak, who previously played for Philadelphia and Milwaukee, has been training with the Blast for the last month. Last season in Philadelphia, he recorded career highs with six goals and six assists for 12 points in 30 games. The 6-0, 170-pound defender began his professional soccer career in the First Division League in Scotland and then played in Hong Kong. He also played in the A-League for the Portland Timbers and the Boston Bulldogs.
In other Blast news, defender Danny Kelly was injured in practice this week and is doubtful for tomorrow night's game due to the knee injury.
The Blast (1-1) will travel to St. Louis today to take on the Steamers Friday night at Savvis Center at 8:35 p.m. ET. The team will return to 1st Mariner Arena on November 5 to host the Philadelphia KiXX in the first game of a home-and-home weekend series against the KiXX. All Blast games are broadcast live on WCBM AM 680 and on the Internet at www.wcbm.com
