Baltimore Blast News Release

BALTIMORE, MD - The Blast drop the opener to the road trip to the Tropics by the score of 7-2. In what was a defensive battle to begin the game, Victor Parreiras opened the score when he collected his fifth goal of the season late in the first quarter.

The Blast tied the game up on a Jonatas Melo goal in the second quarter but 19 seconds later Lucio Gonzaga put the Tropics back in the lead. As the teams headed towards halftime, the defensive held strong for both sides. Vanzela held it to a one goal deficit heading as the first half came to a close.

After the halftime break, the Tropics broke open the game with three goals in the third quarter.

This was a part of a stretch on six unanswered goals. The Blast could not catch a break as they were unable to capitalize on several scoring opportunities. Hugo Silva came up big for the Tropics when they need him to.

The Tropics would add two more goal in the early minutes of the fourth quarter coming at 2:44 and 5:50 respectively. Those were Lucio Gonzalez and Gordy Gurson second goals of the game.

Jonatas Melo got the other Blast goal near the halfway mark of the fourth quarter. That was the only goal they were able to get with the sixth attacker.

Jonatas Melo lead the Blast in scoring by collecting both of their goals and Juan Pereira picked up an assist, while Lucio Gonzalez and Gordy Gurson led Florida in scoring with two goals each and Victor Parreiras and Ricardo Carvalho had two points as well. The Blast travel to the Silver Spur Arena to take on the Orlando SeaWolves in a rematch on Sunday December 22, 2019 at 3:05 p.m. ET. The game will be live on MASLTV.
