
Blast Defeat Lancers 11-0

The Blast returned home on Friday night for matchup against the Rochester Lancers. After suffering their first losses of the season last weekend the Blast returned to their winning ways defeating the Lancers 11-0.
The game got off to a slow start with only one goal recorded in the opening quarter. Tony Donatelli who leads the Blast in points, recorded his 11th goal of the season giving the Blast a 2-0 lead at the 5:39 mark.
In the second quarter the Blast were able to extend their lead. Diego Zuniga recorded a 3 point goal at the 1:35 mark to open the quarter assisted by Adauto Neto. With only seconds remaining before the half the Blast were able to score again when Max Ferdinand recorded his 11th goal of the season off an assist from Tony Donatelli. At the half the Blast lead the Lancers 7-0.
The second half began with the Blast scoring again as Max Ferdinand scored his second goal of the game off an assist from Onua Obasi just 39 seconds into the quarter. At the 9:01 mark Tony Donatelli scored his second goal of the game off an assist from Adauto Neto. The Blast went into the final quarter leading 11-0.
During the fourth quarter the Blast were able to maintain possession and shut down the Lancers offense to record the shutout victory. The final score was 11-0.
The Blast move to 14-2 on the season. The Blast were led offensively by Tony Donatelli and Max Ferdinand who recorded 2 goals each in the victory. The Blast defense recorded 8 blocks including 3 by the MASL leading shot blocker Pat Healey and goalkeeper William Vanzela recorded 12 saves in his 3rd shutout of the season.
The Blast are home again next weekend for back to back games Friday, February 13th at 7:35 p.m. against the Chicago Mustangs and Saturday, February 21st at 6:05 p.m. against the Harrisburg Heat. Both games will be played at the Royal Farms Arena.
