Florida Everblades News Release

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron today announced the team has completed a trade with the Dayton Bombers to acquire All-Star forward Yannick Tifu.

In return, the Everblades sent forwards Jarret Lukin and Mike McLean, defenseman Steve Czech and future considerations. Tifu (pronounced: TEE-fu), who is entering his fourth professional season, has posted impressive numbers since turning pro in 2005-06. Last year the 23-year-old spent the majority of the season with the Bombers, registering an impressive 57 points (15g, 42a) in 39 games, while also earning a trip to the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game. Tifu spent the remainder of the season splitting time in the American Hockey League with the Rochester Americans where he posted three points in 15 games and the Albany River Rats where he notched five points in nine games.

"Obviously Yannick has proven he is a very good player, and we've had a lot of desire to have him." Brush said. "He's the kind of player that can be a big impact for a team and we're glad we were able to reach an agreement to bring him to our club. Unfortunately we had to give up not only quality players, but quality individuals in return. It's the tough part of the business when you have to part with players who have meant as much to your club as those three have, but we now look ahead and are excited to see what Yannick will bring to our organization."

Tifu split the 2006-07 between a pair of ECHL clubs beginning the year with the Phoenix Roadrunners where he tallied 12 points (2g, 10a) in 13 games before getting traded to the Bombers where he finished out the campaign with 77 points (26g, 51a) in 65 regular season games. The Brossard, Quebec native then posted 17 points (7g, 10a) in 22 Kelly Cup Playoff games during Dayton's run to the Kelly Cup Finals.

"I had the pleasure of coaching Yannick at the All-Star Game in Stockton this past year, and I was very impressed by his determination and drive to win a championship." Cameron added. "Personally I'm very excited to coach him and I think he'll add a terrific offensive dynamic to our club. At the same time, the sad part is saying goodbye to quality players like Mike, Jarret and Steve, and I wish them the very best."

Tifu's pro career began in the United Hockey League with Rockford where he finished tied for third on the club with 72 points in 76 games. Prior to turning pro the 5-foot-11, 185 pound centerman spent four seasons at the junior level with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he tallied 248 points (99g, 149a) in 279 games.
