
'Blades sign Peterson to contract

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Gerry Fleming announced today that defenseman Brett Peterson has signed a contract for the 2007-08 season, becoming the second player signed by the Everblades for next year.
Peterson strung together an impressive 2006-07 campaign finishing second on the team in games played with 68 and also finishing third on the team in plus-minus with a +25 rating. The 25-year-old finished the regular season with 23 points (8g, 15a) and 115 penalty minutes and chipped in three points (1g, 2a) in 16 Kelly Cup playoff games.
"Brett was a real strong addition to our club last season, and proved it with a solid year." Fleming said. "The leadership and experience he brings to this team is something all the other guys feed off. Brett also proved to be durable and brought a lot of stability to our blue line."
Prior to signing with the Everblades for the 2006-07 season, the Northborough, Massachusetts native playing in all 72 games with the Johnstown Chiefs in 2005-06, notching a career high 24 points (5g, 19a) and 69 penalty minutes and also chipped in one goal in five Kelly Cup Playoff games.
Peterson began his professional career in 2004-05 by splitting the year between the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies and the Chiefs. After opening the season by tallying nine points (3g, 6a) and 41 PIM in 56 games with the Bullies, Peterson finished off his rookie season with one goal and three assists in 13 games with Johnstown.
Prior to turning pro Peterson played four years at the collegiate level with the Boston College Eagles. His top season with the Eagles came in his junior year when he collected nine points in 38 games. Overall the 5'-11", 199 lb Peterson finished with 28 points (8g, 20a) and 139 PIM in 157 career games with Boston College.
