Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced today that the team has completed a trade with the Alaska Aces to acquire All-Star forward Alexandre Imbeault for future considerations.
Imbeault (IHM-bow) joins the Everblades after splitting the 2009-10 season between the Aces and in the Czech Republic with Slavia Praha. In 44 games with Alaska the 24-year-old posted 48 points (18g, 30a) and 28 penalty minutes before heading overseas in February where he finished out the year by playing in four games with Slavia.
"Alex is an All-Star center who's offensive game is proven," Poss said. "He's a very good skater who can pass the puck. I had a chance to see him last year and he is an outstanding player who can play at both ends of the ice. He's a top centerman who has produced before in our league and we're very excited to have a player with his talent on our roster."
A native of Montreal, Quebec, Imbeault spent the majority of the 2008-09 campaign with the Aces registering 47 points (20g, 27a) and 50 PIM in 64 regular season games. During the 2009 Kelly Cup Playoffs the 6-foot, 180 pound centerman helped lead Alaska to the Finals by posting 19 points (7g, 12a) in 20 post-season games. He also chipped in two goals in six games at the American Hockey League level with the Peoria Rivermen.
As a rookie in 2007-08 Imbeault split time between the ECHL with the Johnstown Chiefs and with the Providence Bruins of the AHL. With the Chiefs he posted his best offensive numbers tallying career-high numbers in goals (26), assists (36) and points (62) in 56 games earning him a spot in the ECHL All-Star game, although he did not appear because of a call-up to Providence. While with the Bruins he notched seven points (3g, 4a) in 12 games.
Prior to turning pro Imbeault spent four years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Quebec Ramparts, Victoriaville Tigres and Chicoutimi Sagueneens. Over the course of his four-year junior career he tallied 208 points (90g, 118a) in 245 games. His best junior season came in 2005-06 when he registered 80 points in 69 games with Victoriaville.
