ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades (10-9-0) recorded their first shutout of the season behind Bobby Goepfert's 29 save performance, knocking off the Trenton Devils 3-0 on Wednesday night at Germain Arena in front of a crowd of 3,867.

The Everblades put together a solid effort from start to finish opening the scoring in the first period on a goal by Matt Pistilli 5:36 into the game. The goal came off of hard work down low that began with Kyle Lawson working the puck from the right corner to Francis Lemieux behind the net. Lemieux then found Pistilli at the bottom of the left circle where his cross-ice pass ricocheted off a defender's skate and into the net for his ninth goal of the year.

Early in the second period the Everblades jumped on Trenton (6-7-1) quickly to extend their lead to 2-0. Just 3:44 into the frame Jared Staal tallied his first professional goal after taking a good, quick pass from Mitch Fadden in the slot and tipping past a sprawling Devils net-minder Jeff Lerg. David Fischer also collected and assist on the tally.

The Everblades kept the pressure on and midway through the frame opened up a 3-0 lead when Elgin Reid tallied a power play goal at 9:28. The goal, Reid's third of the season, was again set up by a good pass by Fadden. After Alex Imbeault got the puck to Fadden on the inside of the right circle, Fadden saw Reid breaking into the left circle from his point position and fired a pass across that Reid lifted over a diving Lerg and into the net.

Entering the third period leading by three goals, the Everblades clamped down defensively on the Devils limiting their chances and Goepfert took care of the shots that got through stopping all 11 he faced in the final period.

With the win the Everblades improved to 7-3-0 at home, and closed out the homestand 3-2-0.

For Goepfert it was his fifth career shutout as he improved his record to 6-5-0 on the season. For the Devils, Lerg took the loss allowing the three goals on 30 shots and saw his record fall to 5-3-0.

On the power play, the Everblades finished the night 1-of-4, while Trenton closed out the game 0-of-4.
