Saskatoon, SK - The Saskatoon Blades are pleased to welcome two new Manitoba-based scouts to their staff for the 2018-19 season.

Craig Lane, a senior manager for Tundra Oil & Gas, joins a WHL scouting staff for the first time but has a decade of experience scouting in the SJHL & MJHL. Based in Virden, he'll scout all levels of hockey across the extensive rural territory in Manitoba. Craig's son Grady, a 2003-born forward, was an 8th round pick of the Spokane Chiefs in May.

Mark Patton, a supervisor for Maple Leaf Foods, also joins a WHL scouting staff for the first time. Based in Winnipeg, Mark has multiple years of MJHL scouting experience and has worked as an evaluation consultant for a hockey agency. Mark's primary focus will be on Bantam draft eligible players.

"Manitoba is a key territory for us given its proximity to Saskatoon," explained Blades Director of Scouting, Dan Tencer. "It's also a challenging territory because of its geographical size and how much hockey is played in all corners of the province. We feel that Craig and Mark will combine to cover the region extremely well and help us greatly in player evaluation and recruitment."

The Blades 2018 training camp gets underway on Saturday, August 25th, in Saskatoon. On-ice sessions begin on Sunday, August 26th at SaskTel Centre.
