Saskatoon Blades News Release

Saskatoon, Sask. - The Saskatoon Blades have acquired 2000 born forward Cyle McNabb from the Kootenay ICE in exchange for fellow 18-year-old forward Brandon Machado and a 5th round pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft.

McNabb is a 6-foot-1, 191-pound product of Winnipeg who signed with the Vancouver Giants in March 2017. The right-winger appeared in 61 games with the Giants last season as a rookie, collecting a goal, 7 assists, and 14 penalty minutes along the way. This season, Cyle put up 3 points and 12 penalty minutes in 34 contests with the Giants before being traded to Kootenay last Friday. In three games with the ICE, McNabb had 1 assist and 2 penalty minutes.

"Cyle adds size and speed to our lineup and being a right shot who can play both centre and wing was appealing," explained Saskatoon associate general manager Steve Hildebrand. "We're excited to have him join our club this week."

In total, McNabb has played 98 regular season and six playoff games in the Western Hockey League. He will join Tristen Robins in Saskatoon, his former teammate from the Rink Hockey Academy where the two played together during the 2016-17 hockey season in the CSSHL. Cyle will be arriving in Saskatoon this week and is expected to make his debut on Friday when the Blades play host to the Calgary Hitmen.

As a result, the Blades have recalled 2002 born forward Braden Plaschewsky from the Midget AAA Calgary Buffaloes of AMHL for Tuesday night's home game versus the Seattle Thunderbirds. Plaschewsky, a 2nd round pick of the Blades in 2017 who will be making his WHL debut on Tuesday, has 4 goals and 13 points in 26 games this season with the Buffaloes.

Brandon Machado was in his second full season with the Blades and had 7 points in 97 career games. The Blades would like to thank Brandon for his contributions to the organization during his time as a Blade.
