'Blades Acquire Defenseman Corey Syvret from Alaska

Defenseman Corey Syvret with the Alaska Aces

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Corey Syvret (pictured above) from the Alaska Aces in exchange for defenseman Gleason Fournier.
Syvret, 26, joins the Everblades after closing out his three-year stint with the Aces last season registering 19 points (6g, 13a) with a plus-12 rating in 45 games played. The 6-2, 200-pound blueliner totaled 52 points (9g, 43a) and a plus-38 rating in 105 appearances during his three seasons in Alaska (2012-2015).
"Corey has been a solid defenseman the past few years with Alaska," said Everblades Head Coach Greg Poss. "With his experience, we expect him to be a real leader for us both on and off the ice."
Syvret (pronounced SIV-rhett) has logged an assist in 18 American Hockey League games in his career split between the Rochester Americans, Portland Pirates, and Toronto Marlies. In addition, he has appeared in a total of 192 ECHL contests with Alaska, the Trenton Titans and Kalamazoo Wings
The Millgrove, Ontario native accumulated 93 career points in five seasons played in the Ontario Hockey League (2005-2010) with the London Knights and Guelph Storm. Syvret was selected by the Florida Panthers in the sixth-round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
Fournier, 23, heads to Alaska after totaling 24 points in 57 games last season split between the Everblades (ten points in 31 games) and the Orlando Solar Bears (14 points 26 games).
Syvret becomes the seventh player to be added to the Everblades' roster for the 2015-16 season. Forwards Evan Bloodoff, Maxime St. Cyr, Jeff Jones, Corey Cowick, Gabriel Desjardins, as well as defenseman Mark Nemec have all agreed to terms with the team
Opening Weekend Set for October 16 & 17!
The Everblades open the 2015-16 season at Germain Arena on Friday, October 16 against the Gwinnett Gladiators! The two teams will also meet on Saturday, October 17.
