
Road Warriors' Defenseman Returns for Second Season

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Road Warriors, proud ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers and the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, today announced the team has re-signed defenseman Sean Escobedo for the 2015-16 season. A key player on the Warriors' blue line last season, the 24-year old will return for his second season in the Upstate.
"Reaching a deal with Sean has been an important part of our offseason," Head Coach Brian Gratz said. "I have expectations for him to bring a leadership presence to the locker room and continue to play at a high level."
Escobedo recorded 19 points (3g, 16a) in 61 games last season and led all Greenville defenseman with a +8 rating. He also earned two call-ups to the AHL with Hartford and Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton, where he finished the season. The third-year pro amassed three points (1g, 2a) in four AHL contests.
"I'm really looking forward to returning to Greenville this season and seeing all of the guys again," Escobedo said. "It's a great place to play and I'm very excited to take on more of a leadership role on the ice."
A native of Bayside, New York, Escobedo spent the majority of his rookie campaign in 2013-14 with the ECHL's Stockton Thunder, producing 15 points (6g, 9a), 57 penalty minutes and a +2 rating in 50 games. He also made his AHL debut with the Bridgeport on November 16th, 2013 against Hartford.
Prior to turning pro, the 6'1, 205-pound defenseman played four seasons at Boston University from 2009-2013. He registered 33 points (6g, 27a) and 208 penalty minutes in 145 games.
