Blackhawks Make It Eight in a Row

January 14, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Bellevue Blackhawks News Release

Bellevue, WA. The ABA Bellevue Blackhawks got a team record 49 points from superstar guard Lavell Brown en route to their eight straight victory, 119-92 over the defending ABA champions, the Long Beach Jam. Brown was on fire from the field, socring an ABA record 11-three pointers, while contributing five assists and four steals and playing tenacious defense. Bellevue moved ahead of Long Beach into third place in the Red Division standings with a 9-7 record while the Jam fell to 8-6.

The Blackhawks led wire-to-wire for their second victory over the Jam in less than a week. Versatile forward Eric Sandrin added 19 points for the home team including two spectacular dunks that brought the record Renton High School arena crowd to its feet. Sandrin grabbed 12 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. Veteran forward Maurice Spillers poured in 29 points to lead the Jam in scoring, while 6-6 guard Kueth Duany chipped in 12.

The crowd gasped several times as the play makers on these two teams connected on many acrobatic passes, particularly with a fast break, behind-the-back delivery from Japanese phenom Yuta Tabuse. The 5-9 point guard is covered extensively by the Japanese media with two separate television crews in attendance to follow Tabuse and fellow countryman Kazu Nakagawa. Seattle Sonics star center Jerome James was in attendance to support his younger brother, Justin James, who plays for the Blackhawks.

The same two teams square-off Saturday night. Great seats are available by calling 206 686 4636 or www.blackhawkshoops.com, www.gettix.com or visiting www.abalive.com.
