The Maryland Black Bears improved to 2-2-1 on the season Friday night with a 1-0 overtime win vs. the Brookings Blizzard. Black Bears goalie David Tomeo earned the first shut-out of his 38-game NAHL career in the 25-save effort.

The defensive matchup saw Maryland successfully kill a five minute major penalty in the second period when Dylan Mannon was ejected for spearing. The first three periods ended scoreless and the extra five minutes of 3-on-3 overtime was needed to decide the game. Just over three minutes into overtime, Maryland forward Luke Posner scored the game winning goal on a partial breakaway giving the Black Bears their second victory of the season.

The Black Bears are 2-1 so far on their road trip to Minnesota and play their final game of the week Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm CST against the Austin Bruins.
