Bugs Fall to Brown Bears in 3rd Game of Showcase

The Shreveport Mudbugs (3-2) couldn't get much generated offensively and fell to the Kenai River Brown Bears, 4-1 Friday afternoon at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, MN.

The Brown Bears scored first in the first period on the powerplay at 15:26. The Bugs had their chances in the opening period and out-shot Kenai River, 14-11 despite trailing 1-0 after one period of play.

Trailing 3-0 in the second period, Jack Johnson provided a spark for Shreveport roofing in his 2nd goal of the season at 14:43 making it a 3-1 contest. Matt Stoia picked up the only assist on Johnson's tally. The Bugs carried some momentum going into the 2nd INT out-shooting the Bears, 29-21, but still trailed the Brown Bears, 3-1.

The Mudbugs couldn't get much going offensively in the 3rd period as Kenai River threw in an EN goal to cap off a 3-1 win for the Brown Bears.

Shreveport drops its second in a row despite out-shooting Kenai River, 46-29 in the game.

The Mudbugs will conclude their NAHL Showcase tomorrow morning as they'll take on Jamestown Rebels. Puck drop is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ?
