TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Syracuse Chiefs at Dunn Tire Park in second game of a five-game home-and-home series (7:05 p.m.). After tonight, the series will shift to Alliance Bank Park in Syracuse for the final three games, including a doubleheader tomorrow night. The Herd is currently on a season-long seven-game losing streak. Looking to stop the streak for the Bisons will be RHP Dan Reichert. The veteran righty has posted a 1.57ERA in his last four starts. Syracuse will counter with LHP Bill Murphy.
THE REICH STUFF: RHP Dan Reichert has pitched extremely well in his last four starts but is still in search of his first win with the team. Reichert has four straight no-decisions despite only allowing a total of four runs in those games. Since June 15, the veteran has posted a 1.57ERA with 16 strikeouts and 18 hits allowed in his last 23 innings of work. On Wednesday, Reichert allowed just two runs on four hits in five innings to the Rochester Red Wings.
JUMPIN' GIMENEZ: Last night, C Chris Gimenez collected his first three-hit performance of his young Triple-A career. Gimenez has now hit in four straight with seven hits in his last 15 at-bats (.467). Prior to his promotion to the Bisons on June 19, the catcher hit .339 (60-177) in 55 games with Double-A Akron. He led the Eastern League with a .487 on-base percentage and 46 runs scored before joining the Herd.
ALL-STAR: Bisons All-Star LHP Rich Rundles threw an inning of shutout relief last night, striking out a pair. The southpaw has posted seven consecutive scoreless outings dating back to June 22 (6.1IP, 2H, 9K). In fact, he hasn't allowed a hit in his last six appearances. On the year, Rundles is 5-4 with a 3.34ERA in 41 games.
BISONS BITS: The Bisons have lost seven consecutive games for the first time in over five years. The team lost nine straight from May 22-30, 2003....RHP Bubbie Buzachero has posted a 1.13ERA in his last 8 appearances out of the bullpen (16.0IP, 13H, 2ER, 17K).
