June 28, 2005 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
Buffalo Bisons' pitcher Kyle Denney has been released from the hospital this afternoon and is resting comfortably at his home. Denney had stayed at a local hospital since suffering a head injury in the team's game against the Durham Bulls on Sunday, June 26.
On Monday, Bisons' athletic trainer Todd Tomczyk reported that Denney suffered a cerebral contusion, a fracture of the parietal/temporal bone in his skull and a ruptured eardrum.
Denney was the Bisons' starting pitcher on Sunday when he was hit in the head from a line drive from the first batter of the game, Bulls' centerfielder Joey Gathright. The ball struck Denney behind the right ear and ricocheted towards the Durham Bulls' dugout. Denney did not lose consciousness at any time, and after roughly a 13-minutes delay was carried off on a stretcher.
