TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Bisons face the Norfolk Tides in game three of a four-game series from Harbor Park (1:15 p.m.) The Herd has scored 23 runs to win the first two games of the series. The Bisons are now 6-2 in their last eight road games and 13-13 away from Coca-Cola Field this year. Tonight's contest is game three of an eight-game roadtrip that includes four in Durham.
FRIENDLY WATERS: The Bisons have enjoyed making port at Harbor Park. The Bisons have lost just one of 12 series (2004, 2-3) played in Norfolk and have seven wins and four splits in 12 seasons. In 50 games at Harbor Park, the Bisons have an amazing .680 winning percentage (34-16).
FIVE FOR HITTING: OF JESUS FELICIANO and INF MIKE JACOBS each collected five hits in six at-bats last night. Feliciano collected his second five-hit game in a week as he also went 5-5 on Sunday against Toledo. For Jacobs, he matched Bisons' season-highs with three extra-base hits (two doubles, triple) and five RBI. Before last week, it had been almost five years since a Bison had a five-hit game; INF JOE INGLETT on August 28, 2005 vs. Syracuse.
MONSTER GAME: The Bisons set a season-high with 22 hits in last night's win. It's the most hits the Herd has produced in a game since having 25 hits in a 25-13 win in Rochester on April 29, 2004. The club sent 13 batters to the plate in a six-run first inning. The last time the Bisons had eight hits in one inning was August 15, 2008. The 12 runs for the game also matched a season-high.
LEAGUE LEADERS: OF JESUS FELICIANO raised his league-leading average 15 points last night to .392. He now has a 64-point lead on Durham's Dan Johnson. He also leads the IL in hits (71). Hessman tops all IL hitters in home runs (18) and RBI (57). With an RBI-double last night, he now has four more runs driven in than any other player in baseball.
TURN IT UP: INF JUSTIN TURNER has hit in all eight games he's been with Buffalo. Turner was designated for assignment by Baltimore on May 21 after playing 23 games with Norfolk to begin the season. In his time with the Bisons, the infielder has averaged .364 (12-33) with four RBI and six runs scored.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (29-27) picked up a 6-1 win over the Marlins on Saturday. Former Bisons LHP JON NIESE official ended his rehab assignment with the Herd and tossed seven innings of one-run ball for the victory. Another former Bison, INF IKE DAVIS had four hits, two doubles and three runs scored. The Mets will shoot for the three-game sweep of Florida at 1:10 p.m. today.
