Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees in the third game at Dunn Tire Park of a five-game home-and-home series (1:05 p.m.). After today's contest, the series will shift to PNC Field for the final two games of the set. Buffalo currently leads the series 2-0 following a pair of wins last night. On the hill for Buffalo will be LHP John Halama. The southpaw allowed just one run on three hits in a victory over Indianapolis on Tuesday. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will counter with RHP Alan Horne.
HOME STRETCH: The Bisons have started 2-0 during this long string of home games. From June 27-July 24 the Herd will play 19 of 25 games at Dunn Tire Park. The Bisons are currently 18-20 at home this season.
STRONG STARTER: LHP John Halama has won three of his first four starts with the Herd including his last two. He has allowed just three earned runs in 13.2 innings in his last two starts. This will actually be Halama's first game at Dunn Tire Park as a Bison with all four of his starts this year coming on the road.
ROCKIN ROTATION: The Bisons rotation has been outstanding of late. In the last 11 games, Bisons starters are 6-1 with a 1.97ERA and nine quality starts. The rotation has walked just seven batters and struck out 49 in the last 68.2 innings of work. The Bisons are now 4th in the International League with a 3.80ERA.
COOP-A-LOOP: OF Jason Cooper has reached base in each of his last six plate appearances. Going back to Friday night's action, Cooper has three singles, a double, a home run, a walk and three runs scored in his last six times to the plate. His home run last night was his 49th as a Bison. Only five players have hit 50 or more home runs as a Bison in the Modern Era (Jeff Manto -79, Russell Branyan -76, Bill Selby -60, Alex Ramirez -57, Richie Sexson -52).
BISONS' BITS: RHP Brian Slocum recorded his 2nd save as a Bison last night and his first since April 19, 2006 against Richmond...OF Todd Linden drove in the game-winning run in each game last night. He know has 15RBI as a Bison.
