June 7, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release

TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons host the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees in the third game of a four-game series from Dunn Tire Park (1:05 p.m.). Each team has a win in the set as the Yanks were victorious 15-4 on Tuesday and the Herd won last night, 7-2. LHP Aaron Laffey will be on the hill for Buffalo today looking to give his team the series edge. Laffey didn't allow an earned run in six innings on Saturday against Toledo to collect his first career Triple-A victory. Scranton/WB will counter with RHP Runelyvs Hernandez.

NO JOKE: LHP Aaron Laffey is coming off two extremely solid starts. On May 28, the southpaw threw a complete game but ended up on the short end of a 2-1 score in Indianapolis. On Saturday, Laffey struck out a season-high seven without issuing a walk to defeat the Mud Hens. The only run he allowed in that game in six innings of work was unearned.

THE FRANCHISE: Ben Francisco has taken a commanding lead in the IL batting charts. The outfielder's .354 average is 21 points better than any other qualifying hitter in the league. Last night, Francisco extended his hit streak to 18 games, during which he has averaged .408 (31-76). Francisco is also 3rd in the league in hits (69).

DOUBLE DAYS: First baseman Ryan Mulhern collected another double last night, his fourth in three games. With 19 doubles on the year, he is just one behind Toledo's Timo Perez for the league lead. Mulhern's team-high 36RBI are 7th in the International League while his .551 slugging percentage is 4th.

ALWAYS ON: Last night, Luis Rivas extend his on-base streak to 23 games (the longest streak for a Bisons player this season). It's the fourth longest active steak in the International League. Since May 11, Rivas has hit .344 (31-90) with 5HR and 12RBI. He has also drawn 15 walks during the stretch, giving him a .443 on-base percentage in the 23 games.

CHOO-CHOO: Buffalo outfielder Shin-Soo Choo is currently on an 11-game hit streak, the third longest of a Bisons player this season. Since May 22, he has averaged .435 (20-46). He's hitting .400 (16-40) with 8RBI in 10 games as the team's DH.

SOLID RELIEF: LHP Rich Rundles has been extremely effective to start his Triple-A career. Rundles threw two shutout innings last night and has now posted a 1.42ERA in his first three games with the Bisons (6.1IP, 7H, 2R, ER, BB, 3K).

LEADERS OF THE NORTH: The Bisons have been in first place in the International League North Division since May 5 (33 days). The Herd has four more divisional wins than another other team in the North.
